We are a group of union activists who stand united in a common vision for the future of our union. We humbly ask for your vote in the upcoming election. Please see below in order to get to know us better:
A slate is a group of candidates running together, united, who share a group of core values. We believe that by running together, we can build a stronger union.
In short, we share some common values - most notably the strong desire for a more democratic, transparent, and member-led union. Please visit the "our values" section for more details.

Kayla is a strong advocate for our patients and fellow nurses. She knows patients receive the best care when staff are well respected and provided with the tools to do so. We hold the hospital accountable for this as a strong union with 4000 members.

Matt has been at BWH since 2021 when he began his current role as a staff nurse on
the Thoracic Surgery Stepdown Unit, 11ABD. He also presently serves as a unit representative on the Magnet committee.
During his time at the Brigham, Matt has devoted countless hours to helping other
members understand the contract and can often be found on the MNA Facebook page
responding to fellow nurses’ questions/concerns.
Matt has currently self-enrolled in
labor school with the MNA to further his knowledge of union practices.
Prior to attending nursing school, Matt served in the United States Army where he
achieved the rank of Sergeant. Some of the core competencies attributed to this rank
include effective communication, instruction, and leadership, which he has continued to
improve upon as a nurse. Matt is a capable advocate and will go to great lengths to fight for what is right.
At home, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife, two children and two dogs. He has a
passion for cooking and baking and his chocolate chip cookies have been regarded by many as the best they’ve ever eaten.
Matt is most interested in serving on the bargaining committee to help empower the
membership through knowledge of and adherence to the contract. Matt realizes that the
“Brigham Way” can be directly contributed to the strength of our union, and encourages
feedback from all bargaining unit members, from the newest NLN to the most senior
nurse. Matt believes everyone has a unique and valuable perspective and deserves their voice to be heard.

Jess shares the following statement:
"Unions have always been a part of my life. As some of you may have seen, my father is a great inspiration for my persistent support of unions everywhere, including our own. My father instilled the value of unions into me at a young age, encouraging me to join a union when the time came. He always said that a union is only as powerful as its members, and I think that this is the most important thing he ever taught me.
I'm running to become one of your union representatives because I want to foster a community of nurses aligned with the same mission of fighting for the best interests of our patients and ourselves. I aspire to help unite our members so that we can strengthen our contract, our advocacy for our patients, and our bond with each other. I stand resolute in my belief that engaging in my union is one of the most impactful things I could do for my fellow coworkers and patients - I would be honored to have the opportunity to amplify your voices as one of your newest union representatives."
