DEMOCRACY
We, as a group, believe that democracy is an absolutely essential component to a labor union.
What would this look like?
- Building a diverse and representative committee -nurses across all departments with different backgrounds and levels of experience.
- Opportunities for face to face time with reps - have your voice heard by those who are elected to represent you. We hope to have a more forward facing relationship with the membership.
- More open meetings - more opportunities to connect with other members regarding issues in the workplace and discuss what's important to you.
TRANSPARENCY
We feel that transparency is paramount in the functioning of a democratic union.
What could this look like?
- Increased communication about what's going on in your union.
- Financial Transparency - how are your dues working for you? Monthly treasurers reports furnished to the rank-and-file members of the union.
- Open communication regarding changes to practice.
UNITY
We believe in building a stronger, member-driven union. MGB is changing and adapting. As your elected representatives, we would work to adapt to the new practices of the hospital and to stand together as one united union.
